LET’S TALK ABOUT PORN
Have you ever opened a Facebook or Instagram page only to be instantly depressed by the carefully curated images that make you think “why isn’t my life like that?”. We are social animals and we’re always comparing ourselves to others. Social media intensifies and worsens this all too human trait.
Porn is a bit the same. We watch scenes of intense sexual activity. Actors with beautiful bodies, lusty butts and enormous genitals engaging in tireless, athletic sex. And they finish with huge orgasms, spraying cum everywhere. And on some level, we compare ourselves to those actors and think “why can’t I have sex like that?”. Sound familiar?
So let’s talk about porn and shed some light on our furtive viewing habits. Let’s start with the porn actors. Actors chosen because of their looks and weirdly abnormal genitals (more on that later). They are just like any other actor. They are being paid to do a job. A job that I’m told takes many hours and is often quite boring. Turn on Bridgerton and you’ll see a bunch of 30-year-old actresses pretending to be love struck teenagers. Turn on porn and you’ll see a bunch of actors pretending to be sex gods.
And just like Bridgerton, those porn actors have probably spent hours in make-up. Not to mention having every hair on their body removed, their anus bleached, their body covered in fake tan. And then there’s the days of diet and gym work before the shoot. And the hours spent douching and opening up their butt. Or the injection into their penis to make it stay painfully hard for hours.
So that’s what we’re really comparing ourselves with. A Bridgerton actress!
In reality, it’s estimated the average penis size is 5.6 inches. And penises come in all sorts of shapes, widths and colours. If you only watched porn, you’d think the average penis was a perfectly pink, perfectly straight 12 inches of uniform width. Fortunately for us all, that is a weirdly abnormal penis.
If you only watched porn, you’d think most men are ready to bend over and take those 12 inches up their butt at the drop of a hat.
If you only watched porn, you’d have a high standard to compare yourself to.
Don’t get me wrong, I love me a good porn scene. So… watch porn and enjoy it! But don’t compare yourself to porn. Remember that just like an episode of Bridgerton, porn is a fantasy world created by actors, producers and clever editing.
